Stone Age By the end of the 1970's a simple piece of stone (although there is nothing like "a simple piece of stone" for Manfred Ebster) would change the way he looks at the world forever. The "Calcare Ruini Formae", a special marble found in Tuscany, seized his imagination. He visualized city skylines and landscapes in the amazing structures of the stone, and started a series of paintings turning real landscapes and cities into stones and vice versa - the Mineralism style was born. A few years ago Mineralism eventually evolved into a more Expressionist painting style, which Manfred Ebster refers to as "Expressive Veduten", best translated as Expressive Views. He uses specially prepared black-and-white photo negatives as the starting point for his artistic interpretation of architecture and cityscapes. 2000 marks the beginning of the Worldwide Web presence of Manfred Ebster - but you knew that already... |
