In these few lines, Manfred Ebster has encapsulated his whole, very personal way of thinking and working. The statement dates back to the beginning of his career, and its artistic consequence can best be observed in his early works, the Fantastic Sceneries, Flower Still Lifes and Trompe d'Oeil which represent the foundation of his oevre.
Although his painting style has undergone significant changes, the statement still holds true three decades later.
