Manfred Ebster was born and brought up in the alpine regions of Austria, Vorarlberg and Tyrol, where he was taught the skills of glass manufacture.
In 1960, at the age of 19 he moved to Vienna where he studied graphic design at the Academy of Applied Arts while following his acquired profession. After stays in France, Sweden and the USA, he returned to Vienna to marry his wife Gertrud. In 1967 he gained the first prize at the Österreichischen Jugendkulturwochen in Tyrol, and his son Daniel was born. He started to work at a printing facility.
In 1971, one year before his daughter Karin was born, he launched on a career as a professional artist, living and working in Vienna and Lower Austria.
